Z.GROUP Consortium Shortlisted for Yinglong Lake National Wetland Park Concept Plan
Recently, our company, in partnership with General Research Institute of Architecture & Planning Design Co., Ltd, Chongqing University and VARI Design, was shortlisted for the "Concept Plan for Chongqing Yinglong Lake National Wetland Park and its Surrounding Area." The project is located in the southeast of Yinglong Town, Nan'an District, eastern Chongqing, bounded by the Mingyue Mountain Range to the east, Nan'an/Banan District boundary to the south (bordering Huimin Subdistrict), the Ring Expressway to the west, and Chayuan Avenue (Guangyang Island boundary) to the north. The total area is approximately 6.25 sq km: Yinglong Lake Wetland Park (western part, 3.64 sq km), the area between the wetland park and the eastern Four Mountains non-development line (~1 sq km), and the Four Mountains non-development line area (eastern part, ~1.61 sq km).
The project distills Yinglong Lake's unique site character. Through background and context analysis, it proposes the planning vision: "Let the Wetland be the Catalyst for Urban Placemaking; Let the City be the Support for Wetland Conservation." It conducts a development assessment across three dimensions: Value Judgment, Mode Judgment, and Function Judgment, resulting in three themes: "Dynamic Wetlands, Symbiotic Cells, Enjoyable Farmlands." This leads to three strategies: "Reveal the Dynamic Beauty of Wetlands, Shape the Symbiotic Form of Cells, Build the Enjoyable Realm of Farmlands," aiming to create eight key elements: a Wetland Network, Four Pearl-Like Settlements, Two Themed Communities, One Farmland Backdrop, One Floral Valley Stream, One Mountain Wilderness Park, Five Sightseeing Routes, and Various Habitat Nodes. The plan provides an integrated and innovative solution for the Yinglong Lake area with its distinctive natural features.
