Z.GROUP Consortium Wins Bid for Danzishi Peninsula Waterfront Urban Design

In September, our company partnered with Beijing Institute of Architectural Design Co., Ltd (BIAD) to win the bid for the "Urban Design for Danzishi Peninsula Area within the Liangjiang Sian (Two Rivers, Four Banks) Central Area of Chongqing." The project is located in the northwest of Nan'an District, Chongqing, adjacent to the Yangtze River. The design scope is divided into an overall strategic research area and a key urban design area, covering approximately 10 sq km and 57 hectares respectively.

  • Overall Strategy: Through location analysis, context assessment, upper-level plan review, and resident needs surveys, the proposal positions Danzishi Peninsula as a "Fashionable, Cultural, and Welcoming Peninsula" on the central development axis of the Liangjiang Sian area. It focuses on concentrating a high-density urban cultural cluster to showcase the new Chongqing; cultivating a high-vitality fashion and cultural industry cluster to build new characteristics; and integrating into the new Liangjiang Sian pattern via a high-quality development model. The goal is to transform the area into an Urban Cultural Showcase, a Cultural Industry Magnet, and a Future Habitat Exhibition Space.

  • Key Urban Design: Extending the "International Fashionable Entertainment Hub" positioning for the former Foreigners Street area proposed in the strategy, it defines the area as a cultural hub centered on performances and fashionable entertainment, showcasing the new Chongqing in a one-stop manner. Through three core strategies – "Culture as Soul, Ecology as Foundation, Activities as Atmosphere" – the design proposes three themes: "Welcome Guests, Delight Guests, Retain Guests." This manifests in eight key scenes: Yangtze Dream Stage, PMC Cultural Complex, New Foreigners' Street Vitality Cluster, Lively Urban Square, Delightful Fashion Golden Street, Cultural Leisure Greenway, Shaxi Wetland Trail, and Park of Cultural Origins. The design also emphasizes strengthening spatial form control to enhance the urban image of the Danzishi Foreigners' Street area.
